Thanks to our host & guide the charming & entertaining Dan from Bike about, who made the week so easy, enjoyable & fun. Loved the e- bikes, made the hills quite effortless. Thanks also to Dan we experienced wine & cheese tasting & other culinary delights. All the accommodation was perfect too. Highly recommend this tour! Mary-Anne & Glen from WA.Written 22 March 2025

- bobbogartx10 contributionsExcellent experienceWe did the 7 day south Australia food and wine tour with Dan. It was fantastic. Highly recommended. Relatively easy cycling, mostly on trails. Great hotels, always ready when we got there, no waiting around in cycle kit. Great food and wine stops. Dan is super friendly and well organized. Plenty of time on your own to explore.Written 7 February 2025

- Dreamer142392944840 contributionsE-bike adventure in the Adelaide HillsWe thoroughly enjoyed our Hanhdorf Food & Wine tour with Dan as our guide. He was fantastic. A local & very knowledgeable of the Adelaide Hills region with a great sense of humour as well!! We visited Beerbenberg Farm for the sweetest strawberries on the planet!! On to Shaw+Smith Winery for some wine tasting, rode through the many vineyards which provided a spectacular backdrop for the tour & the charming, historic German town of Hahndorf to Udder Delights for our cheese platter & freshly baked ciabatta rolls (Yum!!!) brunch then finished off with more cheese & wine tasting at The Lane Vineyard. Navigating the paths & roads both sealed & unsealed was made simple riding on e-bikes which makes this tour suitable & fun for people of all fitness levels. A superb tour! Highly recommend it for anyone visiting Adelaide or Adelaide Hills.Written 5 January 2025
- macknz0 contributions7-Day South Australia Food & Wine E-Bike TourWonderful week biking around the wine country outside Adelaide -- on e-bikes so we could manage hills even after a wine tasting or two! Good bikes, accommodations, and experiences. Plenty of free time to do our own exploring (first time in that part of Australia) by ourselves or with others from the group. Daniel was our guide for most of the trip and he really knows his stuff! He gave us great advice on routes, restaurants, wineries, you name it. Only smally quibble was that it's really a 5-day trip since the first and last days are just the check in and out from hotels, no activities or bikes. Overall, a fantastic experience and well worth it.Written 10 November 2024
- Thomas M0 contributionsAn amazing tour!!!This was the best tour we did out of Adelaide. We did a total of 5 tours. I can't say enough about this tour. It has the best selection of things to stop at plus e-biking is an excellent way to see the Barossa Valley.Written 1 November 2024
- Derek8730 contributionsOutstanding South Australian e-bike tourWe went on the 7 day South Australian food and wine e-bike tour in Oct 2024. We have done a lot of travel in Australia and overseas and this tour was by far the best tour we have ever had. Dan and his Bikeabout team have put together a wonderfull tour highlighting the best scenery, experiences, food and wine that these wine regions have to offer. This is topped off by the guides who could not be more personable, knowledgeable, experienced and welcoming. We can highly recommend this to anyone who wants to see the best of South Australia’s’ Adelaide region. The cycling was easy and predominately on bike trails with the e-bikes making any small hills a breeze.Written 19 October 2024
- 980juder0 contributionsAwesome ebike experience!Highly recommend the 5 day ebike tour through Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley. Really well considered itinerary providing a variety of landscapes and experiences. Dan was an awesome guide. He knew a lot about the local areas we rode through being from the area and could recommend places of interest, cafes etc. My husband and I really enjoyed his company with lots of friendly banter. The whole tour was well-organised but relaxed. Thoroughly enjoyable. Mark and Jude (NZ)Written 24 September 2024

- petermB3074HQ0 contributionsGreat tour, great hosts, beautiful scenery, awesome cycling, wining and dining experience in SA....This wonderful holiday and tour was so enjoyable. We stayed a few extra days and explored Adelaide and surrounds, attended a Crows vs Eagles game at the Adelaide Oval, went to a performance of Symphony of the Bicycle, visited the pandas at the Adelaide Zoo and the amazing Botanic Gardens. Then we enjoyed 5 days of wonderful cycling adventures through a range of cycle trails taking us down the coast, then inland to McLaren Vale, the quaint Hahndorf, the Amy Gillett Pathway, the Adelaide Hills and then the Barossa Valley. The last day was a stunning ride all the way along the Torrens to the coast. The Merida mountain e-bicycles were superb, with plenty of battery capacity to help you along and had a good sized saddlebag for a bit of gear. The mid drive motor, brilliant hydraulic brakes and great geometry made it such a comfortable and enjoyable ride. The longest ride was around 30km which we accomplished easily. We were hosted by Daniel who is a wonderfully engaging gentleman with a passion for touring and his beautiful state, with all of the sights and experiences it had to offer. Nothing was too much trouble and Daniel really looked after us, he's got all sorts of options for mixing up the tour and catering for things like weather changes and so on. We had such a great time on this tour, the scenery, fresh air, variety of terrain, wonderful wine, the food!!! - lucky we were burning a few calories by riding each day, excellent accommodation and Daniels cheerful good humour and encyclopaedic knowledge of all things SA made it very special. On the last day we even got to meet Jack, the founder of Bike About, who was happy to tell us all about his journey in cycle tourism. This is a great tour if you like being out and about seeing different sights and enjoying new experiences each day, it was just great and it is indeed 'better by bike'. Thanks Daniel, and we hope to join a Bike About tour again soon.Written 27 June 2024

Dan was amazing! His patience, availability, kindness and all-round general knowledge made him a great operator. The bikes were good, the trails were very scenic, interesting and mostly flat. I really enjoyed the history Dan was able to share with us about the areas in the Adelaide hills and Barossa valley we traversed. Our accomodation and the organized stops were excellent. Thanks Dan for making this such a great experience. I’d recommend this tour to anyone interested in immersing themselves in riding through this very fascinating piece of Australian cultural history and doing it with a quality operation!

We met up at a cafe, and the first order of business was coffee and pastries.
We biked about 10 miles on paved trails, around northern Adelaide. One of the stops was the wine center for a flight and snack. Yummy
The ebikes were newer and in good shape, very comfortable.
The guides were very interesting, pointing out many of the places we passed. We weren't able to get into the oval, as there was a test in progress.
Definitely one of the best city bike tours I have ever taken. Would highly recommend

The bike tour thru the cities green spaces was fabulous. He also extended our ride thru an area in hopes of spotting wild koalas. His explanations of local points of interest was very good and informative. His meeting location was a great pre ride breakfast location, get there early for a great place for coffee and breakfast

Great weather. E-bike was much more fun than expected. Beautiful trail along the river is not to be missed. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had the most wonderful week. Our guides, Dan and Matt, were fantastic. They had a lot of knowledge of the local area. The cycling was mainly on cycle paths. Ebikes made the trip an easy ride. We got to enjoy the beautiful scenery as we cycled. We enjoyed lovely wine and excellent local food.
