When it comes to deciding where to spend your time off, sometimes location comes first. But the most luxurious type of travel might be basing an entire trip on one very special hotel stay. It can be easy to get lost in the headlines around what’s new and best to experience—but there are noteworthy hotels for every budget and every traveler opening around the world next year.
From a Detroit building inspired by the city’s musical history to a bespoke resort at the foot of Norway’s Svartisen glacier, read about 10 of the best hotels welcoming guests in 2023.
Mii Amo Spa
Sedona, AZ
Since opening in 2001, Mii Amo has pioneered the concept of a wellness getaway. Recent renovations and an upcoming rebrand have set the tone for the hotel’s reopening for spring of 2023. Intimate and connective, the hotel features 16 guest rooms, inspiring deeper bonds with nature and oneself—through a sensory garden, a new signature restaurant, and a reflexology path. Relax in the care of therapists and enjoy the process of recalibration in the sunset’s glow over the mountains. Plus, the indoor and outdoor pools will be available year-round to guests, thanks to the warm climate.
The Hoxton
Berlin
Located near Kurfürstendamm in West Berlin, Hoxton is set to open yet another of its beloved hotels in early 2023. This property will offer 234 rooms set alongside a lush winter garden, inspired by the former Romanisches Cafe (a favorite meeting place for artists between 1916 and 1943). Lovers of the hotel chain can expect the same level of service and attention to detail that The Hoxton brand name has become synonymous with.

Meløy, Norway
Shaped like a UFO, this bespoke resort, opening in early 2023, is being heralded as the “first energy positive hotel.” The hotel’s goal is to enable full off-grid operation within five years of its opening. Located at the foot of the Svartisen glacier along the west coast of Norway, Svart, Meløy is anything but rustic. Guests can anticipate mindful relaxation alongside stunning nature and breathtaking architecture. Experiences range dramatically, given the season, so plan accordingly.
Temple
Detroit
The creative vision of designer Albert Kahn and the team behind Lenny Kravitz Designs, this hotel project was set for opening in June 2020. Disrupted by the pandemic, the 101-room Temple Detroit is now planning an opening in the spring of 2023. (There are also 64 apartments available to book.) The inspiration for design comes from Kravitz’s love for the music of Motown, which originated in Detroit. The hotel, which features both a restaurant and nightclub venues, sits just blocks away from Little Caesars Arena.
