Welcome to Macao, a place where modernity and history coexist beautifully, creating a destination unlike any other. I spent three days in this magical city and had the chance to indulge in its luxurious side, but I also discovered its fascinating culture and heritage.
Heritage and History
Macao has a rich cultural heritage and history. I was taken back in time as I strolled around the historic centre's cobblestone streets. Senado Square, with its charming pastel-coloured buildings, is a testament to Macao's Portuguese influence. The highlight was visiting the Ruins of St. Paul's, an iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site and a powerful reminder of the city's Christian heritage.
Modern Luxury
Macao, however, isn't confined to history alone. It effortlessly embraces modern luxury, which can be found in Macao's high-end hotels. There's no shortage of exquisite places to stay. I stayed at The Karl Lagerfeld Hotel, the only hotel in the world entirely designed by the late fashion designer. I was impressed not only by its sophisticated design but, most importantly, its top-notch hospitality. The city is also a shopping haven. I loved strolling through The Venetian Canal Shops, with its charming Venetian-inspired architecture and an array of high-end brands.
Culinary Delights
Macao's diverse culinary scene was a delightful surprise. From fine Italian dining at 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA to the Michelin-starred culinary excellence of Robuchon au Dôme, every meal was a journey through flavours and innovation. Splurge and go for the signature menu when at Robuchon au Dôme. You will have a memorable experience!
