Very friendly staff... and that's about it. The lunch/dinner was the worst I have experienced in 20 years of heavy flying. I am also not getting why the only difference between a child and a normal meal was, that the child got a spicy salad (not many children like that), while we got a "normal" salad. Entertainment system ex WDH...

Well at least this time we got the type of jet we had picked seats for. Still, it was a cramped flight with no legroom and an older jet. And as usual it ran over an hour late with no explanation.

This started as we entered the plain there was a distinct odour of staleness (polite description), the seats were hard and the entertainment system was a throw back to the nineties, the system had to be restarted three times during the flight, the menu choice was announced over the annoy system and they then apologised if they could not provide you...

While South Africa Airways can be nice for transcontinental flights in Business Class the same can not be said for Economy Class on their Express counterpart. The flight gate area is like a big holding pen for cows. So much of an echo you can barely hear announcements. Our flight left 2 hours late and we were all packed like...

The aircraft was configured in Business and Economy seating. The Economy class seating was 2 x 4 x 2. There were plenty of seats available in Economy class. Drinks service took place after take off. Soft drinks, water, spirits and wine were all freely available. Dinner was served immediately after the drinks service had finished. The food was dreadful. I...

The Boeing 737 flight operating in Business and Economy configuration was almost full. Inflight entertainment was displayed on ancient drop-down screens. Subtitles, in English, were shown on the programs provided. I’m not sure if there was any sound, as no headphones were issued. Catering was of an acceptable standard. Service was unusual in that everyone had finished eating before any...

Check-in was prompt and pleasant. The agent offered to check my bag through to my final destination in Zambia. This had not happened before on previous occasions. When I checked in for my domestic flight in Lusaka, I was asked if I had any baggage to check in. I advised that it had been through checked from Johannesburg and showed...

Another 2 hr. flight in cramped seats but doable because of the short amount of flight time. Not enough legroom for tall people. Flight left and arrived on time. Decent service by flight attendants and decent food for airline food. Nothing bad to say since we arrived on time. OK for short hauls.

This was a 2 hr. flight so as long as we got there, it was fine. Seats were cramped with limited legroom, but everything worked. Food was ok for airline food, and service was with a smile. Flight left and arrived on time. Good job.

I've used SAA before but it seems that the service has gone downhill recently. We left within 20 minutes of the scheduled time so that was not too bad. The meals were not too appetising but again that was to be expected. Service was friendly. The big negative was the fact that the entertainment system was not functional for the...
