About Alaska Airlines

Airline Summary

The fifth-largest airline in the United States, Seattle-based Alaska Airlines (IATA: AS; ICAO: ASA) flies to more than 100 destinations in the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Canada. As the name implies, it's a major carrier in the state of Alaska, flying to about 20 large and small destinations throughout the state. However, the airline has a major presence serving destination on the West Coast of the United States of America. The airline has five hubs: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Portland International Airport (PDX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA), and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). Aircraft operate with two classes of service: First Class and Main Cabin (Economy Class). Premium Class in the Main Cabin, offering additional legroom and priority boarding, is being added to aircraft. Passengers flying in First Class have access to the airline's Alaska Lounge with locations 7 airports. On 25 April 2018, Alaska Airlines and Virgin America merged. The combined airline is known as Alaska Airlines. The combined fleet consists of Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, and Embraer aircraft.

Rude, expensive and lacking competence
Portland - BaltimoreDomestic
We flew to Baltimore for wedding. When I called about seating my wife and I together on the plane, we were told that since we used points for her flight and saver fare for mine, we needed to pay $424.00 if we wanted to sit together. Otherwise, we could wait to go to the airport and they might find a couple seats together just before takeoff. When we got to airport early, there was nobody ther for 2 hours at the counter. The machine said it was too early to print luggage tags. When someone arrived later, they said I must ask questions at the gate. They were rude. When we boarded the plane, I tried to use the bathroom - it was filthy dirty at the start of the flight! My wife tried to use a different bathroom during the flight. Just after she went in, a flight attendant screamed at her saying, the bathroom was closed. However, there was no sign on the bathroom other than a tiny sticky tag that said nothing. Overall, all the reps of the airline either were rude or simply didn't want to bother to help. To have nobody at the airline couner for hours at BWI between 1 and 4pm on a Tuesday is inexcusable as well. Also, I don't appreciate the woke approach. When I reserved a flight, I was asked online if I wanted to donate to reducing my carbon footprint in a gift to ostensibly the airline itself. I can only guess where that $ would go if donated.

Don't use Alaska air
San Francisco - LiberiaInternational
It would be impossible for Alaska to find a farther terminal. Cam in from costa rica. The lady at the gate said to everyone on the plane everyone need to go to gate 6. Just around the corner. It was over 2 miles away. So they take us out of the secure area just to look at our passports and force about 1000 people back through a tsa line. That we just went through. Even in Seattle Alaska home terminal. It's the father's gate to get to. Cheaper. An don't with Alaska and there junky credit card good for nothing

Leg cramps and swelling from being unable to move.
Seattle - OrlandoDomestic
They added several rows of seats (heard the attendant mention to another attendant "wow, those few extra rows really made a difference"), taking away crucial legroom. I'm only 5'6" and I had to remove my personal item from under the seat in front so my feet had somewhere to go. Absolutely no room to move.

Terrible experience!!!
Spokane - BoiseDomestic
Terrible company, and uncomfortable flights. They are so concerned about taking and keeping every penny they can, they don't mind pissing off customers. Any company that pinches the amount of pennies these guys do, is gonna have a hard time obtaining more customers. STAY FAR AWAY

Check the specific plane you're flying on. Supposedly Alaska has a reputation for good legroom, but not the case for the planes I was on.
