... and re-enter with a new 30 day visa which again can be renewed. No short term apartments here. Better to negotiate with a guesthouse for a long term rate. In low season you should be able to get something quite good (not backpacker style) for around $25 per night ... more

... a nice 2 double bedroom apartment on a monthly basis in a few places in Vientiane now, with wireless internet (no ethernet cables) for about $500-800 (single month rate, cheaper for 6-12 months). I don't think you would find the same in Luang Prabang but good luck ... more
