Apartment IN the river???

... was in Bamberg someone was telling me that you can actually rent an apartment that is in one of the historical buildings that sits in the middle of the river. I know that sounds crazy, but I remember it pretty clearly despite the many beers ; )

Yes, I know about the island in the river. But can you rent an apartment there for a couple of nights and how do you go about doing that? I have looked around the internet but cant find anything. ... more

use a local agent
Germany isnot a place for serviced apartments. If you are lucky you'll find a furnited flat. Bamberg is nice but not Berlin or Frankfurt.
OK maybe because of US-army it's different? ... more

We stayed in this apartment, located mid-way between the train station and the old town - a short walk to either - and cheaper than the hostel.

I think it's a good idea to live off-base as you will get to know live in Germany much better than living on-base.
