Brenta Canal excursions from Padova to Venice

I need to choose a half-a day excursion and I'm confused: which villas are the must see? We'll be staying in Padova so we can get on the boat half-way -- any suggestions/comments would be appreciated. ... more

I wouldn't miss Villa Pisani in Strà and Villa Foscari (La Malcontenta) but all of them are worth a visit, this is really a though question... more

The canal and the Villas look better from Venice to Padua than from Padua to Venice.

Is it possible to visit any of the Villas by local bus,rather than on a tour?

Thank you for your reply. We will be in Padua for a month, so we have time to explore the Villas. Which one would you recommend?

I would also suggest Vicenza for palladio's architecture if that interests you. A wednesday viosit means you can visit Villa Rotonda, considered his masterpiece. And we absolutely loved Mantova. Quite a surprise and very little touristed.

The Brenta river is a quite long one, with Brenta Canal I assume you mean the Naviglio del Brenta, the minor branch that runs aside Brenta's Villas.
