Many bars are 100% smoking inside. They are supposed to have installed appropriate extra ventilation but most do not switch it on if they have, or they ignored the rules totally. A few very small bars are non-smoking inside but ... ... A few are 100% no smoking, so you will ... more

Hi, There is no smoking in any pubs, restaurants or hotels, you can smoke on your balcony only. There two cigarette/drink shops in the village of alvor, both charge the same. You can bring home as many cartons as you like, as long as they are for your own ... more

Sorry, but smoking IS allowed in Portuguese bars provided (officially) they have installed the government approved air extraction equipment, These have a blue 'smoking allowed' sign in the window. They are the same place. The Atlantico Apartments are generally in the same complex and managed by the hotel. These apartments were completely renovated last year. Avoid the villas in the complex, although some are now being renovated (much needed). ... more
