... went to Lucca from Livorno, take the train to Pisa and from Pisa either the bus or train to Lucca. If you also want to go to a Villa a driver might not be a bad idea. We had train strikes the day we went but still had no problems ... more

... is more than enough in Lucca to keep you entertained for the day. Travelling by train is cheap and easy and the train station is right outside the city walls, so you can just stroll into the centre. I wouldn't bother trying to see a villa outside Lucca too ... more
