At least one large international home and vacation apartment rental firm charges you twice as much as dealing with the owner directly. As Russ stated, if they are listed with the local tourist information office, they should be legitimate, and you'll also have a much larger selection. ... more

No suggestions but an adivce to take care when renting apartments in Hamburg. With very few exceptions, renting apartmants to tourists is illegal in Hamburg and the authorities have just started to enforce the law in around 1500 cases. ... more

... to avoid rising rents and fight the shortage of living room. I don't know if other cities have laws like that. There are however some legal apartments. Just take care, some owners might stop renting to tourist when facing the fines that hopefully are going to be issued soon ... more
