Tickets cost just £7.50 for adults and £5.00 for children and, as well as enjoying the underground sights, the story of King Arthur (and other Welsh legends) will be recounted with the aid of sound and light special effects.

For lovers of history and culture, the Welsh National Museum in Cardiff is hard to beat. Set in Cathays Park, the museum building is an impressive piece of architecture but it’s the contents housed within that will really capture the imagination. The museum houses a vast collection of art, as well as much of Wales’s national history and archeology collections.

Perhaps the standout collection, especially for those with kids, is the “Evolution of Wales” exhibit, which charts the story of the land mass now called Wales from the very beginning of time. As the museum’s website states “Find out how life evolved in Wales and which dinosaurs roamed the land.” The on-site Oriel restaurant means you can enjoy lunch during your visit and the fact that entry to the museum is free means your wallet won’t be emptied!
