“Lovely peaceful stay”

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding at Castle Howard. Perfect peaceful location with everything that you could need. Would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit NorthYorks and surrounding areas. Rebecca called to welcome us and made sure that we had everything that we needed.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS TO EASTHORPE LODGE

The Lodge is located approximately 18 miles north east of York and 3 miles from Malton.

From the South if travelling on the A1(M):
( It is easiest to go via Malton)

Take Exit 44 in an easterly direction, on to the A64, direction to York. Continue on the A64 (dual carriageway)-passing turn offs to York, Selby and Hull. Continue altogether for about 20 miles until a roundabout is reached. Take the second exit, straight-ahead at the roundabout in the direction of Scarborough, continuing on the A64. Continue on the A64 for 13 miles, ( ignoring the brown signs to Castle Howard off the A64) until you reach the B1248 signposted to Malton at the start of the Malton bypass. Take the B1248 into Malton, then after about a mile and before reaching the town centre, turn left along the Castle Howard road (signposted to Castle Howard with a brown attraction sign). Continue straight on this road for just under 3 miles (2.7 miles), past a right turn to Swinton and the Hildenley reservoir on the right, until you reach the hamlet of Easthorpe. After the ‘Dutch’ looking house on the right, go slightly downhill and Easthorpe Lodge is the next cottage on the right and on the corner of the right turn signposted Amotherby.

From the North from the A1(M):

Take the turning to Thirsk (B6267 and A61). Once through the market town of Thirsk, take the A170 in the direction of Scarborough. Go up the very steep hill of Sutton Bank and then about 12 miles from Thirsk and 1.5 miles before Helmsley, take the B1257 signposted Malton, at a bend in the road. Continue on the B1257 through Hovingham until a crossroads signposted Slingsby to the left and Castle Howard to the right. Take the right turn, signposted with a brown Castle Howard sign. This is a straight road, for about 3 miles, with lots of hills and dips until a crossroads where Castle Howard is visible ahead. At this crossroads take the left turn signposted to Malton and Coneysthorpe and with a brown camping site sign. Go through Coneysthorpe and the hamlet of Easthorpe is reached in 2 miles. Easthorpe Lodge is on the corner of the left turn to Amotherby.

From the North on the A19:

Travel to Thirsk and then continue with directions from Thirsk as above.

From Scarborough or from the East on the A64:

It is best to leave the Malton bypass on the second turning signposted Malton, taking the first left off the roundabout onto the B1257 direction to Malton. Go straight on, through Old Malton, and past Malton Cricket Club and Football Club on the left and Ryedale Council Buildings on the right, until you reach traffic lights. Go straight across at the traffic lights. Continue on Yorkersgate on the B1248 (York Road) for 0.3miles, pass the war memorial on the right and at the next turning, turn right onto the Castle Howard Road (brown attraction signs). Then continue as per Directions from the South.

From York City Centre:

Take the A1036 out of York- direction to Malton. Pass Monks Cross Shopping Centre on the left until a further roundabout is reached. Take the third exit at the first roundabout and then the second exit at the next roundabout onto the A64 in the direction of Malton and Scarborough.
Continue with directions as per from The South

If travelling from Lincolnshire and Humberside
Travel to Norton-on-Derwent on the B1428 in the direction of Malton

Continue through Norton and over the level crossing until traffic lights are reached in the middle of Malton. Turn left onto Yorkersgate (York Road) for 0.3 miles, passing the war memorial on the right and then at the next turning, turning right onto the Castle Howard road (brown attraction signs). Continue with directions as per from Scarborough.

From Leeds Bradford Airport:
Time approx 1 hour 15mins ( depending on Traffic)
On leaving Leeds Bradford Airport turn right onto the A658 until you get to Pool. At Pool turn right towards Arthington taking you on the A659 until you reach the A61. Turn right onto the A61 and continue for about 1.5 miles until you reach Traffic Lights at Harewood ( 7 miles from LBA). Turn left at the traffic lights on to the A 659 and continue on this straight road until Collingham. Go under the flyover A1(M) and straight across to continue on the A659 through Boston Spa and then through Tadcaster. From Tadcaster go through the town in the direction of York & you should join the A64 going east.
From here continue using the directions -From the South.
