The local area is fantastic - breath taking mountains, amazing sea views and the nearby towns of Sayalonga and Competa are beautiful Spanish / Moorish style towns with good restaurants and a few shops. Amentities such as larger supermarkets, the coast etc are literally at the foot of the mountain, just a short drive down a very steep winding road. The beaches were extensive, stretching for miles and empty. An excellent restaurant perched on the mountain top is walkable from the villa and the views over the mountains to the coast, with the gentle sound of bells from the goat and the herder on the hillside, drifting on the breeze was magical. I was surprised generally how reasonable meals out were in the area (circa E12) and local drinks were extremely cheap. (Circa E1.5 max for a beer or glass of wine) The local wine, also very cheap, was lovely, no rough plonk ! Lively and clubbing - not at all ! But lots of interesting places to visit, good food and wine all readily available...
