Very well equipped, clean apartment in a central but quiet location. Good size rooms which were comfortable. Towels provided, including pool towels. Good selection of books and magazines, games etc. Ipod dock/speakers very useful. Kitchen had everything we needed. Excellent free facilities on site - indoor heated pool, lucky to enjoy it for ourselves most of the time. Tennis courts, table tennis, shuffleboard, gym etc. Outdoor pool lovely with very peasant snack bar.
Alto a very short walk from Alvor town. Pao Pao bakery by taxi rank opens from 7am and worth a visit for fresh pastries, bread and cakes. Pingo Doce supermarket short drive and better value than Ali's Super. Plenty of choice to eat out, we recommend Vagabond, Paesano, A Riberia, O Caneeiro (on the beach). Al Dente good too if you don't want to walk so far. The new boardwalk starts by the fishermens huts and takes you along the estuary to the beach - good for bird watching, especially early morning. Good jogging...
