The lodges are ADULT ONLY and we do have restrictions on extra visitors to help maintain the peaceful atmosphere for all our guests. (Check our House Rules before booking.) The cedar clad lodge has tall sunny windows, which face south and benefit from sunshine throughout the day. It is decorated with Pete Caswell’s paintings of sea, surf and sunsets. There is car parking for one car next to the lodge and a further space for larger vehicles or a second car in the guest parking area. The lodge has a deck with outdoor dining furniture, and a shade sail in the summer months. An outdoor tap and plenty of outdoor space makes washing down and storing surf equipment easy. The bedroom has a king size, comfortable bed. The bedroom is spacious and includes a wardrobe, dressing table or chest with chair, bedside tables, hairdryer and Bluetooth alarm. All bed linen is included, as well as two bath towels and a hand towel per person. On stays of 5 nights or more a mid-stay towel change is offered, and linen change can also be arranged. Next to the lounge is a gorgeous, modern bathroom with natural stone tiles, walk in shower, heated towel rail and mirror with de-mister and shaving socket. The lodge has electric under-floor heating throughout so you will always be comfortable and warm, whatever the weather. The living/dining room at the centre of the lodge has a kitchenette and space to dine inside. There is also a sofa, Freeview TV, coffee table and bookshelf stocked with books, games, maps and local information. Free wifi throughout. The tall glass French doors make this a bright sunny space and the entrance leads out onto the decking area. (See each lodge for differences in furnishing details). The thoughtfully equipped kitchenette includes wine glasses and cafetiere along with all the basics you need to self-cater - ideal for making breakfast and light meals. There is a 2 ring hob, microwave and fridge, with a small integral freezer compartment. Cleaning liquids, cloths etc are also included. We also provide a few little extras such as fresh flowers and milk, tea, biscuits and fresh filter coffee, to get you started. Pixie Dell corner shop and off licence is 10 minutes walk away, for basic groceries and newspapers. The village offers a great selection of delis, local supermarkets, a co-op and Tesco. This is one of three, cedar clad, architectural lodges set in a hay meadow and new orchard adjacent to Pete Caswell's Art Studio and Gallery. The lodge is decorated with Pete's original art work and you are welcome to visit the gallery. Full of life and colour, sea breezes and sea light fill the air. The popular Tarka Trail for cyclists is accessible from near the property. More challenging rides are also available to Ilfracombe and the North Devon coastline. Cycle hire is available in the village. The nearest beach at Saunton Sands is 1.7miles by car and a little further round the headland is the famous surf beach at Croyde. You can also access the beach over the sand dunes by parking in the Sandy Lane car park (1 mile away) or drive/cycle along the toll road to the estuary at Crow Point. While the beach is about 1.7 miles away, it is not advisable to walk there from the site due to the lack of a footpath. You can only walk to Saunton beach down the country lane and over the dunes, but it is a fair walk, probably 2.5 miles one way. There is a regular bus service 200m from the site which will take you to many of the nearby beaches & places of interest: Saunton beach, Croyde beach, Barnstaple, Bideford and Westward Ho! with connections at Braunton to Ilfracombe, or from Barnstaple to many other areas. Provides access for walking stages of the South West Coast Path. Please check the House Rules before booking as we do have some restrictions. These properties are for adults only. Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Highly recommend a stay at gallery lodges!
If you are looking for outstanding self catered accommodation, this should be top of your list! Our stay was fantastic and exceeded our expectations! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Gallery Lodges. We found it well equipped, modern and clean. The location setting was beautiful and provides easy access to many local attractions and towns. The owner made us feel very welcome and offered sound local knowledge and tips! We would highly recommend staying here and we are already planning our next visit!

how self-catering should be..
These three x two-person, adult-only lodges are extremely well equipped and tastefully furnished with high-quality new fixtures and fittings. Superkingsize bed, massive walk-in shower, underfloor heating, plenty of plug sockets, free wifi. The lodges are decorated with the owner's paintings and you are able to visit his gallery. Farm across the lane sells free range eggs.

Map
About the neighbourhood
The Lodges are set in the 7 acre grounds of Pete Caswell's art studio in a peaceful semi-rural setting, with Braunton village centre 3/4 mile, a 20 min level walk, away. The lodges are located on the Saunton side of Braunton just a 2 mile drive to Saunton sands beach and 3.3 miles to Croyde for the sea, surf, and stunning coast walking. Croyde is a lovely little coastal village just round the headland with a few good pubs and cafes. Nearby are the sand dunes of the UNESCO Braunton Burrows Biosphere, with great walks, cycling and opportunities for bird watching, seasonal wild flowers and butterflies. You can hear the sea when the surf is up. Our meadows are also a delight in the summer and bring in lots of wildlife to enjoy.
Getting around
Stagecoach bus 21 runs through Braunton near the Gallery Lodges in the direction of Croyde/Georgeham or towards Barnstaple. The timetables change seasonally, so please check online. Nearest bus stop is called West Meadow Road. Good car access to the beaches of Saunton Sands and Croyde, both now have parking options from £1.00 for 1 hour to full day rates giving great flexibility. Cycle the Tarka Trail or to Crow Point with access via small country lanes from the lodges. Otter Cycle Hire in Braunton village, 1 mile away. More challenging routes on the North Devon coast. Level walking to the village, but we do not recommend walking to the sea along the busy roads as there is no footpath in this direction.
Access
Car advised
How to get there
Directions. From Braunton – take Saunton Road B3231 towards Saunton. After 3/4 mile turn LEFT off Saunton road into Moor Lane.(signpost to Moor La Nursery) If you reach Saunton or Saunton Sands Hotel you have gone too far. After turning into Moor Lane take FIRST entrance on RIGHT after 50m (gravel drive opposite Broadlands Farm). Follow the gravel drive and park in parking area on the left to collect your key from reception / Art Studio. The studio is straight ahead in the courtyard. For the Lodges from the studio car park follow the gravel drive into the next field through the gate. Road bears right, and the Gallery Lodges are in front of you. The first one is number 1, second one is no 2 and last one no 3. You can park outside each
