Normally in Thailand for the price of this room you get a hotel with a reasonably nice lobby and pictures of a clean room. We stayed at Pat and Trevor's apartment for a week. It is a studio apartment in a larger (maybe the highest building in Chiang Rai) complex right outside of the main tourist area. Chiang Rai is just over 1 hours flight away from Bangkok. Also just 3 hours air-con bus ride from Chiang Mai. You can fly to Chiang Rai, and return flight from Chiang Mai if you wish, letting you explore both these magical cities while exploring the North of Thailand.
