Having been to Rose Cottage on at least 4 occasions before, and after never having any toilet problems during our stays there. It was a shame to see that the previous people had such problems. We have always found the cottage clean and tidy on arrival, along with nice touches such as fresh milk and biscuits. Love the open fire and free fuel ..a welcome change from some places. We have stayed during the winter months and the cottage was always warm, feels a bit like returning to an old friend now.
The area is great with so many different places to visit (see the visitors book for tips and happy comments from all the previous renters).
Monreith beach is always a fave with us. We took a canoe out to sea ... great fun for me and the kids. However it is unmanned as far as life guards go .... so be careful. To be fair every time I have been on the beach there is usually no one there, hence the reason we like it so much. The steps down to the beach are a bit of a trek, hence why we...

The surrounding garden is lovely and fairly private. The house comfortable and well equipped, although note needs to be taken that the single bedroom is pretty small and without the privacy of a solid door - therefore only really suitable for a child. The closest beach is very safe for children, which was great and we made good use of it. The downside is that it is +150 steps down from the road which some might find a problem,
though good clean toilest on site are a plus. There are other beaches which the children were not as keen on, but then tastes differ. Did a lot of walking which lent itself to exploring and discovery as there is an interesting history in this area. Downside to the holiday was a BIG one, as within 20 hours of our arrival (which included the night) and having been out for the majority of the daylight hours, the toilet blocked. On arrival of the plumber the following day it was discovered that the pipe between the toilet and the septic tank had blocked...
