More visitors to Dallas arrive by airplane than either bus or train. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (commonly referred to as DFW) is the main airport, but many arrive at the smaller Dallas Love Field as well.

The  Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport ( DFW )  serves as a major gateway to any destination worldwide.  It encompasses an area the size of Manhattan. Skylink, the tram system, links the five main terminals, including the Hyatt Regency Hotel. There are also shuttle buses to the remote parking lots, and a variety of other services. The airport also has as a visitor information center, an assistance center, restaurants, shops, car rental agency building and even its own sculpture garden and art program which provides art in the terminals and passageways. Thanks to the restaurants in every terminal, you can have some real Texas barbeque as soon as you touch down or before you board your flight.

If you have time, visit the new International terminal, Terminal D.  Terminal D is a groundbreaking new additional to the DFW International Airport.  It will assist you pass time with any long layovers with its' ample choice of top notch dining and shopping.

Passage from DFW to and from downtown Dallas can be made by Trinity Railway Express (TRE) line Monday through Saturday only or by bus via Express Route 202 every day from 6:00 AM until 11:00 PM. To take the TRE take the free shuttle to the Remote South Parking area and transfer to another shuttle bus to Centrepoint station. Buses are frequent, but leave at least 30 minutes for the trip, distances are significant. Centrepoint to Dallas is a two zone trip on TRE, various passes that include use of DART are also available. The main station in Dallas is Union Station, where DART light rail also stops.

Another option is the Super Shuttle. Costs range from $16 to downtown Dallas to $35 to Plano (just north of Dallas,) but the service is offered at all hours. Depending upon the number of passengers on your ride and their locations/destinations it can be a long time before you reach yours so factor that in when scheduling.

Most airport area hotels offer courtesy cars for airport pick up and drop off to DFW which is well worth asking about. There are also many limousine services available, check this DFW Airport link for a list of authorized companies. Unless you are going directly to the Ballpark at Arlington or Texas stadium ($23) it costs a minimum of $30 to take a taxicab from the airport to Dallas. For your convenience, there are cab stands outside all of the terminals.

Dallas Love Field is considerably smaller than DFW, but more centrally located to the city of Dallas. Currently one major airline and one regional airline offer service to Love Field. If you have a wait, or even if you don’t, the Frontiers of Flight Museum located at the terminal building is highly recommended. It is about seven miles from downtown and local transportation is offered by taxicabs (about $13 to downtown), limousine services and the Super Shuttle.  New serivce will be added in from Dallas Love Field as part of the Wright Ammendment has been repealed.  Look for more airlines to come very soon!

Dallas’ main bus terminal is the Greyhound Bus Terminal at 205 S. Lamar (214-849-6831) located downtown as is its main train station, Union Station. Union Station at 400 S. Houston St. is serviced by Amtrak’s Texas Eagle which runs between Los Angeles and Chicago and is connected to the DART system.
