It is said that all roads may lead to Rome, but many highways still lead to Michigan’s capital city including three major Interstates: I-96, I-69 and I-496; as well as one U.S. Highway, U.S. Route 127. In addition to driving, Amtrak provides intercity passenger rail service via the Blue Water line, which runs from Chicago, IL to Port Huron, MI, with a stop in nearby East Lansing near the Michigan State University campus.
Air travelers can fly to Capital City Airport, which is serviced by major airlines including United Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines, as well a regional airline Allegiant Air. The airport is located at 4100 Capital City Blvd., and can be accessed from I-69 or I-96 via Grand River Ave. at exit #90.
According to a 2005 study, conducted under the direction of the Chair of the Department of Communication at Michigan State University, airline passengers traveling from Lansing say they are overwhelming satisfied with airline service provided from Capital City Airport. 93% of the local flyers are reportedly satisfied with the air service, saying that the travel from Lansing is convenient, parking is close to the terminal and security lines are fast and easy compared to other airports.
