Travelers almost always come to York during the summer months.  The area is known primarily for being a summer resort and it is during these months that the area thrives.  In fact, there is so much tourism in the area during this time, and so much lack of it at any other time of year, that the tourist information office ( http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g40...) is only open during the summer months.  Summer is the time when it is possible to experience all of the area’s attractions as well as to catch a number of the area’s annual events ( http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g40...).  

Summer is also the time when the area’s weather is most enjoyable.  The average temperature during this time of year is right around seventy degrees.  The temperatures may get approximately ten degrees warmer than this which, combined with humidity levels, makes it a perfect temperature for swimming in the cold waters of the beaches in York .  The temperatures may also drop approximately ten degrees lower during the evenings in the summer, making it possible to don a sweater and enjoy ocean-side walks as the sun goes down.

York is cold during the winter months, colder than most people want to experience, and so the area is basically empty at that time.   From December through February, the temperature rarely climbs over the freezing point.   Only the hardy should take a vacation to York at this time.
