Oh, this town is a real "sleeper!" Drive up from Lincolnville (0nly 20 miles) and have a wonderful time. Their galleries are terrific and owner operated so you can meet the artists. They have some absolutely beautiful work in these galleries.
Have lunch at Darby's. Their open faced Maine Picky Toe Crab (no kidding!) sandwich was wonderful. They have good fresh meat burgers and fresh cut Maine potato french fires that are lighter than air. The place is over 100 years old.
Another really nice restaurant in the area is Chase's Daily. It's great for Vegans.
Stop on the way and see the woodworking business just north of Lincolnville on your left. Also, there is a weaver making bedspreads. They get their wool from sheep, who live on an uninhabited island in Maine. An amazing story. Check it out. Just South of Belfast on the west side of the road.
Give Belfast a try. You won't be sorry. You will enjoy this town.
