Kansas City, Missouri: An Architectural History, 1826-1990
by George Ehrlich
Granted, this book primarily covers KC, MO architecture, the fact of the matter is that that's where most of the noteworthy architecture is. It has a good section on Kansas City, KS, however, especially in covering the early architecutre of the Westport settlement.
