It is hard for a family with children to go wrong in choosing to travel to Orlando.  There is so much to do, whether rain or shine.  The amusement parks have indoor activities and covered areas that make even a rainy day entertaining.

The best places to eat for kids is Ponderosa, Sizzler, Golden Corral, Dennys, KFC. Universal Studios caters particularly for kids with a Barney theater, a Curious George-themed play area were you can spend just about all day playing. A good thing in Curious George would be to take swimwear, as there is a wet section. Also a Woody Woodpecker roller coaster just for the little ones. The ET ride for all the family. Jimmy Neutron is now closed and is being replaced by Despicable Me 3D show.  If your kids like animal antics, visit the live animal show and see the T.V. animals, Lassie for one.

Orlando is the ultimate family vacation spot.  Walt Disney World and its various theme parks will keep your family occupied for more than a week.  There are lots of family-friendly, reasonably priced restaurants, reasonable hotels (many suite styles so you are not tripping over each other).  Older teens will like the Disney Village, Universal Studios, IOA and a little further away, Busch Gardens and the various Factory shopping outlets.  Aquatica and other local waterparks are fun ways to cool off from the summer heat. Smart travelers can take advantage of great deals on hotels, car rentals and even find discounts to theme parks. The best part about Orlando, is that you have the ability to tailor your trip to your budget.  Orlando is a relatively safe city too.   Families who like the outdoors can golf, enjoy water parks and swim.  While the Disney property hotels are first-rate, its easy to have fun and save money by staying off-property.  Many hotels offer complimentary breakfasts and cocktail hour snacks.  There is easy access to grocery stores and drug stores to save money on food, film, sunscreen and other necessities. If you are traveling with young children consider renting strollers at the theme parks. Even if the kids walk some or most of the day, they are wonderful for storing backpacks, diaper-bags and shopping bags.
