Restaurants on Captiva are clustered in the tiny village area, plus the ones at Tween Waters Inn, Old Captiva House, Canoe and Kayak and Crows Nest ,just south of the Village, and those within South Seas Resort.  NOTE: The restaurants within the gates at South Seas are exclusively for guests of the resort and to a limited extent those docked at marina [fee].

Fun, funky, and laid back, describes the restaurants.  Green Flash has a fabulous view of Pine Island Sound.  The Mucky Duck, a pub style place, is in an old beach house at the end of Andy Rosse Land. On the beach, it is THE place for sunsets with a drink and some live music.  Try the ice cream brownie sundae for desert.  Key Lime Bistro and RC Otter's serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and usually have live music.  Coffee and take out at Latte Da.  The famous Bubble Room is on Captiva Drive with extra parking across the street.  Desserts are the most famous thing they serve and you can get them to go.  Sunshine Seafood Cafe is in the village as well.  New in 2007 is Cantina Captiva with indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Starbucks has a spot across from the entrance to South Seas in Chadwick Square.  A gourmet shop opened in Chadwick's Square called Captiva Provisions.  They have a deli, steaks, made to order sandwiches and wines.  They usually offer a free wine testing on Thrusdays. Right next door a new wine bar is currently open afternoons and evenings only.  Wine, by the glass or flights, and limited hor'dourves like olives, chesses, antipasti, and chocolates.

Local favorite, Queenie's Ice Cream is available at several locations, including McCarthy's Marina office, Latte Da, and Captiva Store.

Dining -food and service quality - in Captiva is hit or miss, mainly a reflection of the nature of a seasonal resort area.   When dining outdoors, especially in summer months, be sure sure to have insect repellent to keep the no-see-ums away.
