Some favorite "cheap eats" spots in Fort Lauderdale are:

Vincenzo's Pizzaria - huge portions cheap! Get the chicken parmagiano dinner, the crust is like italy pizza. He will literally custom make anything you want. Italian owned and spoken, 17th St Causeway area at Cordova and 15th st near so. port raw bar - $2.50 big slice. 954-765-3440

Il Mulinos Restaurant on Sunrise Boulevard.....Not CHeap tho

Argie Grille

The Floridian Restaurant - Las Olas and 15th Avenue - 24 Hour Diner

Tarks in Dania Beach - on US1

Mi Casa Su Casa - for Mexican Food (On Griffin Road West)

Primanti Brothers - on Sunrise - Pittsburg Import - Pizza and Legenday Sandwiches

The Palm (formerly Max's Grille) - Beach Place and River Front - $3.99 Lunch

Greek Island Taverna on A1A near Oakland Boulevard

The Parrot: the only place on Ft Laud beach that doesn't charge tourist prices. Good food, good library of beer, cheap.

Beach Pizza: when you want a good slice served to you by a nice person rather than thrown at you, try Beach Pizza on the Las Olas side fofthe beach. Staff is polite and friendly, place is clean, za is good. Menu variety a little wider as well.

Wayward Sailor: clean neighborhood watering hole on the corner of Oakland PK Blvd and US1. Great burgers, wings, and the menu has some nice surprises that suggest the cook is not just another hash slinger. Also: the cook has the sense to put the mushrooms on the burger THEN the cheese, so they stay on.

In the same shopping center as Wayward Sailor, try Fernanda's International Market for sandwiches - more expensive than Publix, but well worth the $9. Amazing bread and really fresh ingredients - fresh basil, home-made mozzarella, real prosciutto. Eat in or take out. One sandwich can easily feed 2 kids or chiks.

For healthy Mexican, try Zona Fresca, west side of Federal Highway at NE 16th Street. Go off peak since parking and seating can be a problem. About $10 per person with soft drink. Great kids menu. Serves beer.
