Whilst travelling to Kota Kinabalu we saw an advert for North Borneo Railway unfortunately it opened the day we were leaving the area on 4th July 2011. On passing the railway station we saw the rolling stock in a siding and we went to ask if we could take some photographs. The staff were really helpful obviously very proud of the train, they opened one of the carriages for us and let us on board to take photographs. They then took us to see the wood burning locomotives in the engine sheds being prepared for the big day. The locomotives a 2.6.2 configuration had originally been built in Lancashire by the Vulcan foundry. It was dissapointing that we were unable to enjoy a trip out on the train, however the next time we return it will be a must do. A big thanks to the staff for being so accommodating.
