Wet market in Langkawi / Kuah

Just a few years back the wet market has moved from downtown Kuah to an area at the end of Kuah. The building looks more like a bus station. It is a simple big building with a red roof.

The market opens from 7 am until 2 pm, then closes a few hours and opens again at 4 pm until 7 pm.

This market is not at all a tourist attraction; actually you will hardly see tourists there. But it is worth to visit. The market sometimes is a little dirtry for western standard but has a special atmosphere.  You can buy fresh fish, prawns, sometimes even lobster, chicken and beef. Sure, veggies and fresh fruits.  As a normal tourist you will need nothing of these things but to have a stroll around one day might be worth while.

In the back of the market are some very basic food stalls. You can have a roti with a tea for RM1.30! The traditional dish are offered here and Nasi Lemak wrapped in banana leaf. The locals are really friendly and you will feel most welcome. This is the “real part” where you can see local life!
