Spent a week here in September 2009. Lots of places to eat but  the traditional Turkish restaurants either side of the traffic lights on the main road were good on choice and value. There was also a super haven nearby on the main street selling freshly squeezed orange and pomegranate juice in chilled glasses for 2TL/3TL . The seafront was a good place to promenade but the beach was rather dirty with old cigarette lighters etc strewn among the stones.(This year 2013 the beach has been cleaned prior to the tourist season starting and is maintained ) Two beach beds and a shade were hired out for 10.5 TL a day, however you needed to borrow mattresses for the beds from an adjacent cafe/bar but there was no presssure to buy anything in return. There were lots of dogs around , some using the beach as a toilet ugh!. The numerous islands in Fethiye Bay made the sea at Calis more like a lagoon, the water was cloudy and left skin feeling slightly greasy after swiming. However, there was a facility towards the Fethiye end of the beach which had it's own segregated seafront area which  looked clean, although the water still looked cloudy.  The sunsets at Calis were spectacular especially while enjoying a refreshing Efes beer. A good option  for a cheap 'sunset cruise' was to take an evening ferry to Fethiye at 10TL return. Overall a fairly small friendly resort with a good choice of eating places but the beach was not rated highly.

Since the original person posted this review the number of street dogs has fallen considerably and in march of 2012 the council have cleaned the beach of alot of the troublesome rocks ....

Showers have now been erected along the length of the beach (June 2012)
