For  great entertainment in the early evening, sit in the lay-back wicker seats at @rt Bar in Ao Nang.  Grasping a happy hour cocktail, watch the people go by and play my favourite game.."Are They My Mob?"  This involves identifying your fellow counytrymen by choice of footwear, backpack brand, facial features or behaviour.  Black socks and Moomin-troll noses? That'll be the Scandanavian folk.  Versace T-Shirt and bling bling jewellery...the Russians are in town.  That family with glorious smooth tans and tastefully crushed linen garb?...Bonjour!  And look.. technical Teva sandals and perma-tanned forearms with khaki shorts that zip off...that's my mob!  Cheers mate!!
