On the left bank of the Ganges south of Samne Ghat opposite the Ramnagar Palace and Fort is the serene and beautiful cultural coplex of Jnana Pravaha (Flow of learning) - a society working for preservation and development of Indian Cultural Heritage. The museum on the top floor of the main building has a small but outstanding collection of paintings, textiles, sculpture, mauscripts and photographs. The section on Kashi (traditional name for Varanasi) is an excellent introduction to this city's history. Open 11-00 am to 5-00 pm except Sundays. Entry one dollar or its equivalent in Indian Rupees. Visit jnanapravaha.org for more details.
