Remember to pack insect repellant, & if you get Pharaoh's Revenge, the local drug is Antinal. Immodium will simply "bung you up" & let things fester inside. Talk to your gp if concerned about the possiblity of an upset tum & they may give you something to bring with you.

Book all tours through your rep these can be trusted a lot of the people selling them on the street do not have proper insurance.

  • Go to Ministry of Sound at Pacha  - They have some of the best and most famous club DJs in the world there, the club is amazing - huge! - holds thousands and is open-air. A mixture of house and club music.
  • All the nights are different and draw a mix of crowd the busyist night is thurday the foam party and got told it is empty on a saturday ask local reps and people who have been which nights they recommend.
  • Go Stargazing - your tour operator or hotel will be able to offer this excursion - be sure to pack a jumper!  - A guide takes you and a group out to the desert and you have some traditional Bedouin food, sit round a campfire, make bread, then an astrologer points out constellations. There is almost zero light pollution so the stars look brighter than you have ever imagined.
  • Go diving/snorkling/glass bottom boat the Red Sea has the most amazing marine life and coral, you really gotta see it one way or another! Ras Mohammed is a brilliant area with amazing fish this is one of the bect areas to see the fish and coral.
  • Go Quad biking or on The buggies it is an amazing experience, go to the sunrise (have to get up early but well worth it!) a very magical experience and good fun driving through the desert! N.B. ARRANGE INSURANCE BEFORE YOU GO for risky sports as local vendors don't have it, despite what they say & even the tour ops like Thomson etc admit that they will defer to your own insurance in the event of an accident......& accidents do happen out there!
  • Have a shisha pipe at one of the cafes in Naama Bay - it's a traditional egyptian water bong. Cherry tobacco is good to try. Haggle prices. Dont forget there are lots of them if the dont agree with there prices walk off and they will shout you back if they dont go to another one!
  • Eat at Silk Road - Silk Road is a truly beautiful restaurant with some of the best food in Sharm. It's part of the the Grand Rotana hotel. They have 3 chefs of Asian, Indian and Eastern backgrounds, so the food is amazing. Try their steak.
  • Go to Camel bar in Naama Bay - whilst you're there find Sean (nicknamed Prawn - he's the manager); he's a London lad that is working over there - he's very funny and treats you very nicely. Live music and DJs on special nights.
  • Have a meal at 'on the deck' in Naama Bay (part of the Lido Hotel) - absolutely stunning views of Naama Bay, great food (try the french onion soup) and the restaurant sits on a jetty. They illuminate the sea under you, and the lion fish use this light for hunting - so you dine whilst looking through the crystal clear waters at amazing marine life - it's really special.
  • Go to club El Fanar on a Wednesday night - It's an open-air club on the edge of a short cliff, and they light the ocean up during the clubnight - it's amazing dancing with stars over your head, and the Red Sea illuminated behind you. they also do great drinks offers on Budweiser! The music is ok for most of the night, commercial dance, but it is an Italian party so you well get some comedy Italian music towards the end (just sing la la laaaa with them all).
  • Go to Hard Rock Cafe one night - After midnight the cafe becomes a club, and it's worthy of any local glitzy club (Ikon/Diva/Lava/Ignite/Liquid etc.). Some suprisingly good club music and a fantastic party night out - suitable for families too.
  • Go to Buddha Bar one night (but remember to bring a bit of money - it's expensive) - part of the Funky Buddha chain, Little Buddha is the more exclusive side of Sharm's nightlife. It's cool, the music is good, and the drinks cost fortunes. Good sushi there in the daytime. Free entry and free drink for girls on a wednesday

  • Go to local 24/7 supermarket first to check out local prices, here they are fixed and give you a negotiating start point for the markets. Also in the Old market there is a fixed price place which helped a lot. Try not to buy from the shops on the main drag as their prices are higher.
