Sangre is a beautiful restaurant with great atmosphere, service,  food, wine, and wonderful people as owners. Located on 5a av Norte, which is the street with the arch that ends at Merced. It is great for lunch, dinner, business, romance, and much more. The small plates are creative and nicely presented.  Sadly Sangre is closing at the end of January 2009 as the owners are moving on to their next venture.

Ask around about Hector's however.  It is the hot spot at the moment.  No sign.  On 1st Calle across the street from La Merced between 5th and 6th Avenida.  Closed Tuesdays.  Small.  Hector is the star.  If open there will be a blackboard in the doorway.

For a more formal lunch option, head to Panza Verde. They do a great job at this high-end Continental restaurant and the courtyard setting is very impressive. Service is perfect and the food is prepared beautifully.

Dinner at Nokiate would impress your colleagues, as well. The interesting menu has a good selection of sushi as well as ceviche and other Latin American small plates.
