There are four seasons in Macau but they are affected by two different monsoon seasons.  The first monsoon season takes place in the spring, usually beginning in March, and is known as the southwest monsoon.  During this time of year, the weather gets wet and is known for being humid and foggy.  Warm rains generally continue throughout the summer months.  There may be intense storms and even cyclones at this time so travelers should avoid visiting during these months.  It can also feel quite warm, with temperatures hovering in the mid-eighties and humidity often being over eighty percent.

At the end of the summer months or at the beginning of autumn, the southwest monsoon season ends and the northeast monsoon season begins.  During this transitional time, the weather is usually very nice, with little rain and comfortably warm temperatures.  The winter gets somewhat cold, but not unbearably so, and is generally much drier than the summer months.

Macau is mostly hot and humid throughout the year from May through October. The best months to visit are from November through April where the weather is pleasantly cool and sunny.
