If you’re visiting Philadelphia, turn to the Independence Visitor Center, at 6th and Market Streets. This office offers countless publications, including calendars of events and area maps, as well as a café, gift shop, and an exhibition on the city’s history. The Official Visitors Guide is updated each season with events, exhibitions, and attractions. You can also find out about package tours, including free city transit passes and train discounts, and pick up a variety of trolley rides, walking tours, and bus tours.
Those headed toward the Pennsylvania Dutch Country should check with the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau, at 501 Greenfield Road in Lancaster. Here you can find area maps and guides, brochures, and get answers to any questions you might have. There is also a slide show that offers an overview of the county. Another good source is the Mennonite Information Center, at 2209 Millstream Road, also in Lancaster. Besides regular visitor information, they can also connect visitors with a Mennonite guesthouse, church, and tour guide; and they show a film featuring a Mennonite family on their farm, as well as a tabernacle tour.
If Pittsburgh is your destination, check out the Greater Pittsburgh Convention and Visitors Bureau, at 4 Gateway Center. Or, stop in at one of the Welcome Centers that are located on all the major highways.
For statewide information, two good online resources are the Pennsylvania Visitors Network and VisitPA.
