Built in 1863 during the Gold Rush period, the ambiance created by the beautiful historic stone building is romantic and elegant, with exposed stone walls, soft lighting and a huge open fire-place. The Bath house restaurant and cafe
This restored Victorian bathhouse built in 1911 provides you with a wonderful setting flor a evening meal. You look up the middle section of Lake Wakatipu and watch the sun set behind the snow capped mountains. The BoardwalkThis is one the up market seafood restaurant in Queenstown. It has a prime locaton overlooking the Queenstown bay, and is very popular, reservations essential.

Avanti'sThis is in the centre of Queenstown half way down the Mall and has the buzz of the resort. For people that want something light and easy, or if you want somewhere quick where they don't have to dress up. This is the place, quick and good service, food that caters to everyone's taste. Value for money. If this restaurant if full go done the mall 30m and on the left is Winnies a gourmet pizza bar, another popular restaurant with the residents. Great for takeaways.
Walter Peak High Country Farm.At some stage of your visit to Queenstown you will probably find yourselves on the TSS Earnslaw. {this is the Steam boat on the big lake} There is a carvery evening meal as well as a barbeque lunch available at the Walter Peak High Country Farm. This has a wonderful location, you look back at Queenstown across the lake, with the view framed in large trees. With a demonstration of dog and sheep handling as well as shearing after the meal.
This is a restaurant that has a spectacular view from Bob's Peak directly behind Queenstown. From here you will see the Remarkable's Mountain Range, on the other side of the lake, these change their colour in the evening. There is a need for you to reserve yourself a table, as the tour buses come here in numbers in the early evening and the second sitting is popular for those with more time on their hands. The Stables Restaurant ArrowtownThis is a favourite restaurant. This place is good for lunch, sitting outside in the sun. It is also becoming a guide book recommendation. Another old stone building with character, a good choice for the well priced evening meal, wonderful food imaginatively presented, and a great range of Pizzas also. Reservations essential.
Beyond Arrowtown in the Kawarau Gorge is the old Kawarau Bridge, where you can watch or participate in the original Bungy Jump. Travel down the Gibston valley of wines and visit the Chard Farm Winery, the Gibston Winery and lunch at the Waitiri Creek Wines..

This is an ideal place for alfesco lunch.11 am until 3 pm. or indoors around the fire in winter. A winery tour is available showing the workings of the winery and the cave.
A easy way of seeing this and other wineries is by going with the Queenstown Wine Trail. This way you don't have to drive. Try the Queenstown wine trails Summer Sampler for lunch as well as a taste of local cheeses and wines.
The winery is one minute down the road from the Bungy Bridge.
Waitiri Creek Wines is another good place for lunch in the sun. Drive another 4 minutes down the road towards Cromwell, the sign is on your left.
For those of you who take a day trip to Wanaka
As you drive over the Crown range road, State highway 89. You will drive through the Cardrona settlement.The old Cardrona Hotel has changed a little over the years, but it is still a interesting place for a beer or lunch. Another favourite place for a late lunch is the Edge Water Resort, it's quite with a good view of the lake, with the township beyond. Great food that is reasonable priced. You can follow this up with a gentle walk along the lake.
The other two places are the Mediteranian restaurant "The White House" and "Relishes", which is beside the Bullock Creek, a good place to watch people.
Glenorchy HotelIf you happen to be in Glenorchy for the afternoon, why don't you stay there, for a Stone Grill dinner and enjoy the sunset and the views.Here you can enjoy the ambience of a country pub.
