January
Brisbane International
The tournament takes place at Pat Rafter Arena (Queensland Tennis Centre, Tennyson) and is known to players as the event to play before the Grand Slam season hits off.
February
Brisbane Comedy Festival
The Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm holds the annual comedy festival which features the best local, national and international comedians.

Paniyiri Greek Festival
Held in Musgrave park (one block from South Bank) Panyiri is a fantastic way to spend a day or night. With traditional dancing, more fabulous food than you could hope to try, rides, games, music and displays.

Abbey Medieval Festival
This is Australia's largest medieval festival event held at Caboolture on the way to Bribie Island.

Brisbane International Film Festival
This festival provides a platform for the launch of many of Australia's best independant films.

Brisbane Festival

The Brisbane Festival is by and large a cultural festival with a program that includes theatre, dance, opera, circus, music, multimedia, comedy, cabaret, visual art, fringe theatre, conversation, political satire and an extensive program of free community events. It is mostly comprised of fringe theater and modern art. It is also the host of the spiegletent each year.
- River Fire is a SPECTACULAR display of fireworks. Choreographed to music broadcast on local radio the display takes place over a 5km strech of river and includes fireworks going off the top of city buildings, a low altitude dump-and-burn fly past by two F111jet fighter and aerobatics displays by the world famous roulettes.

- Bunya to the Bay is an adventure down the Brisbane River for school aged children
- The Great Rubber Duck Race raises money for the surf lifesavers. sponser a duck and watch as thousands of ducks race towards the finish line to win their lucky sponsor a wonderful prize.
Other Events
Buddha Birthday Festival
Come and celebrate the birth of Buddha. Held at the Southbank Parklands this festival offers a chance for the general public to gain an insight into the world og Buddhism. With displays and ceremonies, food and concerts.

Out of the Box (children’s festival )
Theater festival for 3-8yr olds including interactive perfomances, workshops and activities.
