Arriving by Plane

Brisbane ( BNE ) only has one airport, but separate terminals for domestic and international flights. They are a short distance away from one another - too far to walk, but you can get a taxi or the train. Inter-terminal transfers by train cost $5.00 and the service runs every 15 minutes (during peak times) from 5am to 8pm daily. You can also get a taxi between terminals - approximate cost is $10.

Getting to the city

The easiest way to get to the city is to hop on the Airtrain. The train leaves from the platform 50 metres walk from the terminal and costs $15.00 per person. Children travel for FREE! It takes 20mins to arrive in Brisbane CBD. If catching the train, you will be required to walk to your city hotel, or catch a taxi, depending on the location. Booking your Airtrain ticket online can save you 10% of the fare. See www.airtrain.com.au for more information.

If you prefer the convenience of being taken directly to your hotel, one alternative is the Coachtrans airport shuttle. You may have to wait up to an hour if you book a transfer at the airport, so pre-booking is essential. It's important to be aware that no refunds are allowed within 3 hours of the departure time, so if your incoming flight arrives late you may be out of transport and out of pocket. One way tickets are $14 and travel time varies between 20 and 60 minutes depending on traffic conditions and the number of passengers to be dropped off before you.

There are taxi ranks outside the arrivals hall and a one-way trip to the city will cost around $40. This is a good option if you have a lot of luggage, or there are 3 or 4 passengers.

If you are driving to the city, it is well signposted. Follow the signs for City - from Airport Drive, take a left onto the Gateway Motorway and then a left onto Kingsford Smith Drive. It will take about 20 minutes (that's if you don't travel in peak traffic times).

Arriving by Train

If you arrive by train, you'll most likely end up at Roma St Station (where the bus depot also is) or Brisbane Central Station. Both are fairly close together - Central Station is closer to most city addresses.

Arriving by Bus

The Roma St Bus Depot is a short walk to the city, or you can get a taxi from the depot if you don't want to walk.
