The purpose of this topic is to provide some transport details from Sydney Airport and Central Railway station to the major public / private hospitals around Sydney.

Families & extended  family members ( from country NSW ) should always contact the hospital beforehand.  Special priced transport options may be available to relatives of critically ill patients. These may be provided by hospital volunteers,  taxi  or airport shuttle companies.

  • Take the Bus 389 from bus_stand_E at Alfred St Circular Quay via Elizabeth & Park streets and through Darlinghurt to the stop opposite the hospital.
  • Bus 311 from Central Railway Station to Circular Quay via Elizabeth Bay is another option. The frequency of service is about 1 per hour ?
  • Take the 380 or 333  from bus_stand_E at Alfred St Circular Quay along Elizabeth & Oxford Sts to Taylor Square. Get off at the courthouse stop and walk ahead to the second traffic lights and turn left for the main entrance.
  • Take 378 bus from Central Railway Station (Lee St & Eddy Ave) along Elizabeth & Liverpool & Oxford st to Taylor Square.    Get off at the courthouse stop and walk ahead to the second traffic lights and turn left for the main entrance.

Sutherland Hospital

  • Train to Miranda or Sutherland Station and take a taxi. Please check the Sydney Buses website.

  • Train to Martin Place ( Bondi Junction to Cronulla / Sutherland ) service via Central & Town Hall Stations
  • Any bus ( 324 325 326 327 374 376 377 380 L82 389 392 L94 396 397 399 ) along Elizabeth Street from Alfred St Circular bus_stand_D or bus_stand_E and get off at Martin Place ( Channel 7 Sunrise & News studios )  
  • Any bus ( 422 423 426 428 ) from bus_stand_A  in Alfred Street  Circular Quay along Pitt Street & Castlereagh Streets to the Martin Place stop ( Commonwealth Bank ) and walk up Martin Place to Macquarie Street

Westmead Children's Hospital 

  • Train to Parramatta station and a choice of local buses or a taxi.
