Kinsale is a beautiful area wih a small harbour and lots of secluded little beaches.
Kinsale is also renowned for its many restaurants. One favorite is called The Vintage on Main St. It has a cosy atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive as are the owners who make sure you enjoy your evening without feeling rushed. The food is always fanastic and well presented with wine list to match. Excellent value for money.
Another popular place for lunch is Daltons, offering a great smoking area. The owners are always there at lunch time and the chef, Mr Dalton, has excellent specials every week day Closed for food on the week-ends though.
A good budget choice in the evenings is Le Bistro opposite the lively Muddie Maher's pub. They do a early menu for 20 euro until about 7pm. Good value and the sauces and lasagne are great!
Unique, stylish and vibrant, Jola’s Restaurant, 18/19 Lower O'Connell Street,is one of those places you have to seek out in Kinsale. It is not on the harbour front but on a street than runs parallel.
The room is extraordinary: the bare stone walls, the white linen clad tables sparkling with glass and candles, all dominated by a large mirror on the far wall reflecting the whole scene.
The food matches the sophisticated design, a mixture of Eastern European dishes and the more conventional. Unadventurous eaters need not fear, no one has to eat goulash. Although you can if you want to, the goulash and pancake is delicious. The chicken shashliks with mixed salad and the Racuchy – Apple Fritters with Rum Ice Cream are the kind of dishes that are memorable.
