My wife and I recently booked a weeks holiday on the isle of man, but returned home after only being on the island for two days. Let me explain. My wife recently had a knee replacement operation and is still in a fair amount of pain and is also disabled in other ways. Going over on the ferry was fine, the ships staff were great and couldn't be faulted in any way at all. upon arrival at Douglas we were taken to the lift first so we could get into our car without any problems. The problems started when we left the ferry.

The minute you go off the tt route the roads become VERY third world, with constant bumps, lumps and holes almost at every yard. By the time we arrived at our rented cottage my wife was in a great deal of pain due to the constant shaking and bouncing caused by the uneven roads. As we hadn't eaten we went into Ramsey to get food and we were both shocked by the amount of drunkenness and and people staggering around. I left my wife in our car while I went to get a pizza and while waiting in the shop two men and a young girl who were all drunk were rolling around the shop floor wrestling! the shop owner wasn't the least put out by their actions and upon questioning it seems this is a normal thing! My wife was very scared sitting in our car because of the behavior of other drunks all around so I left the pizza and returned to the car. We decided to go to the police station only to find it was only open nine to five each day and there were no officers on duty!

The next day we visited Douglas only to find that there is VERY limited disabled parking and what parking we could find left us with a considerable walk to get to the shops. This is NOT  a disabled friendly city in any respect.

Also on the isle of man your mobile phones don't work and you have to either buy a Manx Sim card or another phone.

We would never go to the isle of man again and regret ever going in the first place. We would also warn any other traveller with disabilities not to go there because of the state of the roads, the lack of parking and feeling that if you're disabled you're very much third class.

we have visited many other countries, the USA, Cyprus, Norway, Sweden, Spain and a great deal more and this is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write a bad review. DON'T GO TO THE ISLE OF MAN
