If you are visiting Amsterdam, do not overlook the new waterside Public Library (see: ARUP - design firm).

It is a 10 minutes walk from Centraal Station; there are 500 computer terminals with free public access, 3 restaurants, one at the top of the building with great views over the city and free newspapers from many countries. You sit at comfortable long counters with good chairs, good light and a quiet atmosphere. It is open to the public seven days a week from 10 am in the morning to 10 pm at night. It is a terrific free resource - no need for an Internet Cafe, all facts & figures are on this website:

You have to be a library member to borrow books & DVDs, many in English but all other facilities are open to the General Public. There is a large staff, who are very helpful. It is the biggest library in Europe. Visit this lovely city to visit the Library and enjoy its generous facilities.
