There are numerous festivals, events and celebrations that take place in and around Costa del Sol every year. There are a few different reasons for so many fiestas… not only are they all traditional and full of Spanish customs, but they are also enjoyable and fun, and tourists love to attend them. The area of Andalucia, which includes Costa del Sol, celebrates a few THOUSAND fiestas every year, so matter when tourists visit, they’re sure to experience at least a few!
Some of the larger yearly events include:
Carnivals before Lent: Every year, there are several carnivals that take place before Lent, and the largest and most famous one is the Cadiz Carnival. All of the carnivals usually consist of parades, dancing, costumes, food, and lots of celebration.
Seville Spring Fair: This event takes place two weeks after Easter each year, and it is an enormous celebration. There are costumes, dancing, singing, music, and much more. The party continues until the wee hours of the night (or morning) for the entire duration. This is one fiesta that should be attended at least once in everyone’s life!
Bullfighting: A trip to anywhere in Spain would not be complete without observing at least one bullfight. The season for bullfighting normally lasts from April through October.
