If you intend to spend all your time on the beach, then make sure you take flip flops or similar - a pair of Crocs is perfect - as all Nice beaches are pebbly. The sea dips away quite sharply so head for one of the public beaches if you have kids as they have lifeguards/ assistance. Many of the private hotel beaches don't appear to have guards.

A lot of the main hotels are bordering Promenade des Anglais which is great for the beach.   Cours Saleya borders the sea end of the Old Town . By morning it is a fleamarket on Monday, flower / fruit stall rest of week. By afternoon it is replaced with extra cafe tables.  At the top end of the old town is Place Garibaldi. Cafe le Turin is situated on the corner serving fabulous seafood, and if you can't wait, they have a stall round the corner selling same seafood.

Then there is the Old Town.Wander down narrow streets, get lost in the meddle that is old Nice. Explore quirky shops, busy cafes, loads of restaurants including L'Escalinada. Then when you need that great aerial photo of Nice, or just fancy a walk, head for le Chateau. Be prepared to climb quite a few steps, not for fainthearted!, and marvel at the fabulous views. When you get to the top you'll be glad you did.

The Harbour is well worth a visit. Great restaurants and cafes, multi million pound yachts, ferries to Corsica. Great nightime too.

If you have any money left then hit the new town, Ave Jean Medecin is home to designer clothes shops as well as your usual High street outlets.
