Troyes is located in France's Champagne-Ardenne region, which means that it experiences a mild climate. There are four distinct seasons. Summers are warm and pleasant. Winters are long, cloudy and bleak. The warmest months in Troyes are July and August, when the average temperature is in the mid-60s. The coolest time in Troyes is December through February, when average temperatures are in the mid-30s. In the winter, the temperature stays mostly above freezing, meaning that snow is infrequent and short-lasting. Winter can still be trying, however, as they are especially cloudy and the sun can remain hidden for weeks at a time. It can also rain frequently, adding to the bleak conditions.

Precipitation is pretty constant throughout the year. It is wettest in the summer: July and August each get about 2.5 inches of rain on average. The driest months are February and March, who each get about 1.5 inches of rain on average.

Try to avoid Troyes in the month of August, when most French people go on vacation. Not only is it high tourist season, but much of the city can close down during this time as people go on holiday.
