Coming to Dublin for a Europa League match?
As many of you already know Shamrock Rovers have become the
first Irish men’s team to make it to the group stages of a European
competition. I have put together the following information for any fans of
Tottenham Hotspur, PAOK and Rubin Kazan who have decided to make the journey to
Dublin to attend a match. All matches will be played in Tallaght Stadium.
Who are Shamrock Rovers?
Formed in 1901 and originally from the Ringsend/Irishtown area, Shamrock Rovers are the most successful club in the League of Ireland. They compete in the Premier Division and won this title a record 16 times, along with 24 FAI Cup successes. Shamrock Rovers play in green and white stripes when at home and black when away. They spent 22 years “on the road” when their beloved Glenmalure Park was sold to property developers but finally had a place to call their own with the opening Tallaght Stadium in 2009.
Where is Shamrock Rovers stadium?
Shamrock Rovers Stadium is located in the Dublin suburb of Tallaght. It is located 13km from Dublin city centre and is at the foot of the Dublin Mountains. It was once a small village but urban development has seen it incorporated into the greater Dublin area.
Tallaght Stadium has a capacity of 8000 at present. It is owned and operated by South Dublin County Council. The stadium opened in March 2009, with the first match being played between Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers on Friday the 13th. There are over 450 car parking spaces adjacent to the venue. The Club shop is located within the stadium and is open Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm and until 10.15pm on match nights. It stocks not only Shamrock Rovers memorabilia, Republic of Ireland replica kits and memorabilia but also a range of sportswear and footwear. There is a bar onsite called The Glenmalure Suite which is open to members only.
As with most public spaces in Ireland smoking is only allowed in designated areas. Read all stadium regulations here: http://www.shamrockrovers.ie/shop/sta...
