Coventry's nightlife is scattered around the City in blocks, rather than one street or area, and is improving every year. The main areas are:

The Skydome Complex, Croft Road, Coventry.

The Skydome is a redeveloped area, built in 1999 and located on the western edge of the ring road. This complex consists of bars, restaurants, nightclubs a multiplex cinema and a 3000 seat ice skating arena. This area tends to be the area where younger people head to at the weekend but there really is something available for all ages. Nightclubs here include JJ's (formerly Jumpin' Jaks).

Spon Street, Coventry.

This medieval street runs from Corporation Street in the centre of the city to the west up to the Skydome area. This street contains some of the more traditional bars and pubs that are popular with older people as well as those wanting pre-nightclub drinks before going to the Skydome area. Bars of note include The Old Windmill Inn (known locally as Ma Brown's) and the restaurants Blue Bistro (formerly 1450 Cafe Bar) serving modern British cuisine, Turmeric Gold (Indian) and Kakooti (Italian).

Priory Place, Trinity Street / Hales Street, Coventry.

One of the more recent developments in the city. This area is located close to the Pool Meadow bus station and next to Whittle Arch. The area boasts bars, restaurants and nightclubs. This area is popular with young professionals and can be a tad expensive, however, this area is very modern. Dogma, Bar Escape and some fusion restaurants provide a more mature, sophisticated experience.

Jordon Well / Far Gosford Street, Coventry.

Heading east from the city centre through the area where the University is located. This area is popular with students. The road passes under the ring road towards Far Gosford Street. There is a small concentration of pubs here, The Phoenix, The Oak Inn and Whitefriars. Many tend to end the night by moving on to Scholars nightclub, a small nightclub with an alternative music policy or Kasbah which is a large alternative nightclub and live music venue just outside the city.

There are a few hidden gems dotted around the centre of Coventry. One being Inspire https://www.facebook.com/pages/Inspir... (New Union Street) which is literally in an old spire! It's small, but serves a great selection of beers and drinks, and is also a good eating place. It was voted in the Top 50 Nightspots in the U.K by the national newspaper The Independent this year. Serves over 80 different Craft Beers which change daily, live bands and D.J's at the weekends. It's the only place in Coventry to be entered in the Lonely Planet guide. The Glasshouse (Bull Yard) and Bar Liquid (City Arcade) are also in this area. Another is Bar Eden (Ryley Street) hidden by the new Belgrade Plaza development.
