Doesn't it always seem like after a night of drinking on the town that you suddenly get the munchies and want some fried, fatty foods to soak up the beer? Well, in London, you might go for some late-night curry or falafel to curb the craving and there are no shortage of late night spots where you can fill up.
Curry Nights in Notting Hill is definitely worth a visit after the pubs. And you'll be in good company because plenty of other people find their way to this late night curry shop to snack on the tandoori and balti. It's not just about the food here (which is good, and cheap) but the atmosphere as well which combines eclectic decor and super fast service. 58 Chamberlayne Rd, Notting Hill, 020 896 45 725.
When you're craving a little atmosphere Italiano, the legendary Bar Italia in trendy Soho is the place to go. Open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays, you're sure to have an interesting experience as well as enjoy a tasty little snack or cappuccino. And since it's an Italian cafe, don't be surprised if there's a football match on the telly in the background. 22 Frith Street, Soho, 020 74374520. Cafe Boheme in Soho is also a good bet for dinner up to 3am - serves casual but well presented fare such as prawns and mayo and gourmet burgers as well as veggie stuff. Raher lively at night and invariably a queue to get in to the bar and often the dining area too. Cafe Boheme 020 7734 0623.
If you're out in Camden and find yourself getting the urge for a kebab, Marathons will fill you up on the cheap. Kebabs are practically mandatory for London dining - although the fish-n-chips standard probably isn't going anywhere anytime soon and Marathons is something of an institution. 87 Chalk Farm Rd, Camden. 020 74853814. You can also find kebabs galore as well as lots of other middle eastern food along Edgeware road, just off Marble Arch. Try Ranoush Juice for kebabs and los of fresh juices. 43 Edgware Road, London, W2 2JR 0871 3328449
When nothing but something fried and fatty will do, it turns out that Americans have a leg up on the rest of the world. Go to Tinseltown, a 24 hour American diner and wolf down a double cheeseburger and a milkshake. Apparently even Posh and Becks like the milkshakes at Tinseltown, as do all the other late night clubgoers, drunk pub-goers and anyone else still up in the middle of the night. 44-46 St John St, London. 020 76892424.
If you are out and about in Fulham and Chelsea Vingt Quatre on the Fulham road is open 24 / 7 with a sit down menu including steaks, sandwiches, full breakfasts and more. It also has a 24 hour alcohol license.
And if you've been on the rampage around the bars and clubs of Shoreditch and Hoxton, most certainly head for the famous Brick Lane Bagel shops. These are open 24 hours too, and are packed throughout the night with clubbers, late night workers and members of the emergency services all waiting patiently to tuck into the best salt beef and mustard bagels in London, other filled bagels, pastries, soups and piping hot cups of tea- at stupidly good value prices.
