There are many iPhone apps available to help a visitor around London and a few for the Android phones too.  Please share your favourites here.

Here's a short listing of iPhone/iPod Touch apps  and e-books you may find to be helpful when in London

Android

London Bus Stop - live bus arrival times for all 20,000 bus stops in London including a handy alarm which tells you when to leave your hotel or house in time to catch your bus. See the London Bus Stop live information site. 

Walkin London - this lists Attractions by walking distance and has downloadable maps so it's really handy for seeing what's nearby.

London Tube - this app is free, and it does have a way of checking for problems, but it goes online for that - not so good if you pay for roaming. 

Iphone 

Hidden London - excellent free guide to nearly 50 unusual, quirky and easily missed places to visit in London. Can be downloaded from iTunes : http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/hidden...

SecretLondon - this has loads of different types of places, secret bars, parks, oddities etc. download from the appstore here:

Pocket London Free - This free guide does not need an internet connection, has a pretty good map and some nice features like quiz questions. Easy to use and covers all the main tourist places in central London.

Green & Rural London - great guide to London's secret gardens, parks, farms and other such places

Tube Status - up to date info on Tube service and any scheduled weekend closures

London Tube - good app for moving around London via the Tube. There's also an app available for London Bus routes by the same company

London2Go - pretty decent map app. There's also some high level tourist info that might be of some use to the first time visitor

TheFashionPixie.com - great free shopping app that details all of London's fashion sales and biggest store discounts

Quirky London - name says it all. A listing, limited gallery and map reference for some of the more unusual places to see in London.

Drync Wine - not specific to London, but a fun app to use when selecting your tipple.

Free & Budget London - comprehensive and beautifully illustrated guide to free and budget things to do and see in London

Superlative London - another guide from the same (Sutro Media) stable as  Quirky London and Free & Budget London, similarly professionally produced with masses of pictures and at a massive 275 entries of London's best , greatest, oldest, only etc.. good value.

It could be very useful to set up a listing of pubs, wine bars and restaurants in iTouch Notes with the address of each location. If you have access to Wifi, you can click on the address listing and a map will pop up to help you on your way.
