Getting around Brighton is easy and affordable. Because the city is relatively small, the majority of places in the city centre are quite easily accessible on foot. The only tool necessary for such transportation is a good street map, which can be found at Brighton Map . However, if getting around by foot is not desired, there are other options for transportation.
For visitors, driving to and around Brighton should be avoided where at all possible, due to the heavy congestion in and around all routes into the centre, high on-street parking charges and overly keen traffic wardens, clampers and tow-away truck crews!. If parking on-street, spaces are at a premium, it is important to obtain parking vouchers from newspaper shops. These vouchers are available at any shop displaying a green “V” symbol. The cost for parking is generally around £2.00 per hour in the city centre and £1 per hour elsewhere. There are a number of large NCPs around the city, with the largest at Cannon Place (behind the Grand hotel, adjacent to the Hilton Metropole) and for the Churchil Square Shopping Mall, parking entrance via West Street.
